How to pack your parcel

How you pack the inside depends on the type of items you are shipping. We always recommend wrapping fragile items, including delicate snacks, with ample bubble wrap. Use appropriate cushioning materials to fill any extra space in the box to prevent items from colliding with each other.

Why is it important to know how to wrap a parcel?

Your parcel has to go on a long journey from leaving your hands to arriving at its destination.

It will:

  • Travel in different vehicles

  • Visit more than one sorting hub

  • Ride several miles of conveyor belt

  • Be sorted by automatic scanners

1. Wrap your items

Wrap any items before you put them in the box. It’s important that fragile items are carefully wrapped as sorting machine can’t read ‘fragile’ or ‘handle with care’ labels.

You could choose:
1. Bubble wrap – reuse bubble wrap you have at home to keep precious items extra safe.
2. Paper – use layers of paper to fold around your items, cush as news paper or reuse from Amazon parcel.

2. Fill the empty space

Make sure your precious cargo stays secure by filling any gaps in the packaging around the item. This will help keep it in place and prevent it moving around.

You could use:
1. Paper – scrunched up newspaper is the most environmentally friendly option.

3. Put your address inside

Before you fasten the lid on your box, you need to put some details on a piece of paper inside.

Include:
Your own name, address and phone number also the name,  address of consignee.
If the address label comes off your parcel during the journey, it helps to know where it’s headed.
